Watch the video below, which discusses microevolution.  Take notes while you watch the video.  Your notes should include an explanation of each of the following:

What is microevolution?
Explain how each of the following affect microevolution:
  1. Small sample size (small populations and genetic change)

Classwork: 3/29/12 (Mendelian Genetics)

In the next section of class, we will be talking about Mendelian genetics and Punnett squares.  This video will give you a solid introduction to the topic.  Please complete this assignment to turn in on Monday when we return from break (4/16).  If you finish prior to break and would like to submit it early, put your notes and definitions in the 5th period box in our classroom.

Using your textbook (and/or online resources), write down the definitions for the following terms:

Gene
Allele
Homozygous
Heterozygous
Hybrid
Self-fertilization
Cross-fertilization
True-breeding
Phenotype
Genotype
Dominant
Recessive
Law of segregation
Law of independent assortment

Watch the following video.  Take notes while you watch the video (as if you were taking notes during lecture).

You will turn in both the definitions and your notes from the video.  I will be checking your notes to verify you took good notes from the video.
